HOUR OF RECKONING TO BE PUT ON HIATUS

I’ve been debating about posting this for a while but decided to take the plunge today and let you know what’s been happening.
Remember a few blog posts ago, we spoke about the importance of momentum in projects? Well, a combination of difficult publishing environment, having no day job to fund HOR and Wellington’s job economy in the gutter has driven our momentum on Hour of Reckoning to a shuddering halt.
As part-time gamedevs, sometimes life has a habit of getting in the way. Jonesy has been crazy-busy in his day job which has made it hard to find time to program and I was recently was caught up in the National Budget Slash of 2024 and ended up losing my job, which greatly affects our ability to source game art and animation. It goes without saying that it’s been a bit stressful.
So it’s with great disappointment that we are putting Hour of Reckon on hiatus for a while. Putting it into cryo-stasis, if you will (weird analogy, I know).
HOWEVER! It’s definitely not dead! We’re re-thinking about how we can rescope the game and make it a smaller, tighter experience and I have no doubt that we’ll be able to do that. It might take a while longer to cook and we may have to change a few ingredients, but we can still put out a tasty dish. The work we’ve done so far is strong and I’m positive that we’ll be able to release a demo in future that you’ll love.
In the meantime, I have started a much smaller, personal project. But I’ll save that for another blog post.
